A dirt-bike entrance, a whip crack or two, and a very happy couple

If you ever needed proof that a wedding can be deeply meaningful and wildly fun, Ben and Beth’s country wedding in Northern NSW was it!
Their country wedding was set on a family-owned property with uninterrupted 360-degree hinterland views.
Wollumbin (also known as Mt Warning) sat on the horizon, watching over the day.
As a Northern NSW wedding celebrant and MC, I get to see a lot of weddings—but this one? Pure character, start to finish.
A Groom’s Entrance No One Will Forget
I played some pre-ceremony music as the guests gathered around. I text Ben the groom to tell him when it was go time. And then, the sound of engines rolled over the crest of the hill.
Ben and his groomsmen appeared on dirt bikes, riding in to Boys from the Bush by Lee Kernaghan—ICONIC 🙂
Ben hopped off his bike, cracked his whip a few times, adjusted his Akubra, and then strolled down the aisle like this was exactly how weddings were always meant to be done.
A True Aussie Bride Arrival
Beth’s entrance matched the energy perfectly.
She arrived in a car, radiant and calm, while her bridesmaids followed behind—standing on the back of a ute, waving and laughing as they rolled in.
Honestly, a big round of applause to all these legends who made this day their own!

A Personalised Ceremony Written From the Heart
I had the absolute privilege of writing and delivering Ben and Beth’s personalised ceremony, weaving their story, humour, and values into something that felt real as opposed to rehearsed or generic.
I also coordinated all of the ceremony music, ensuring every moment flowed seamlessly—from the high-energy entrances to the quieter, emotional beats that had guests laughing one minute and wiping away tears the next.
This is what I love most about being a celebrant in Northern NSW: creating ceremonies that are unique and meaningful to all different couples.
From Ceremony to Reception MC at the Local Hall
After the ceremony, the celebration moved just down the road to the local town hall, where I was honoured to also step into the role of reception MC.
Town hall receptions have a charm all their own—warm, communal, and full of character. With heartfelt speeches, a packed dance floor, and plenty of country-style celebration, the night unfolded exactly as it should: relaxed, loud, and full of love.

Capturing the Day: A Thousand Moments
The stunning images from the day were captured by Bjorn Schmal and Andy Williams from A Thousand Moments.
They documented everything—from the sweeping hinterland views to the grit on the dirt bikes—with a storytelling eye that perfectly matched the spirit of the day.

Frequently Asked Questions – Country Weddings in Northern NSW
Can you get married on a private family property in Northern NSW?
Yes. Weddings on private or family-owned properties are very popular across Northern NSW and the Byron Bay hinterland. Depending on guest numbers, council requirements and logistics (parking, noise, amenities), permits or approvals may be required, but many couples successfully host relaxed country weddings on private land.
Do you need a celebrant experienced with outdoor and country weddings?
It isn’t absolutely necessary, BUT choosing one who has more experience in these weddings may reduce mishaps. Outdoor and country weddings often involve uneven ground, weather considerations, sound management and flexible timing. Choosing a Northern NSW wedding celebrant experienced with private-property ceremonies ensures the day runs smoothly and stress-free.
Can a wedding celebrant also coordinate ceremony music?
Some do, some do not. I offer full ceremony music coordination — managing entrances, signing moments and exits — so couples don’t need to rely on guests or vendors to press play at the right time.
Can the same celebrant also be the MC for the reception?
Yes. Having the same person as both your celebrant and reception MC creates continuity, keeps the tone consistent and removes the need to brief multiple people. It’s especially popular for country weddings and town hall receptions in Northern NSW.
